Changing of the Guard at Bleasdale

The new financial year saw some management changes here at Bleasdale, with our General Manager of the past 4.5 years, Martin Strachan (left), stepping down and handing over the reins to Leigh Warren, previously our National Sales Manager.

While Martin isn’t leaving us completely (he will now be focusing solely on exports), we asked him to put together a few words about his time in charge here at Bleasdale.

“Bleasdale is a winery that has been special to me since I was first introduced to this amazing place back in 2001.

During this time we have seen many acquisitions and great consolidation within the Australian wine industry, and it has always been important to me that smaller family wineries such as Bleasdale remain fiercely independent, releasing wines that show regional and varietal personality.

In my view, after 30 years working within the wine industry, I believe the 169 year old Bleasdale story is right up there with the best – adventure, hard work, family, challenges, endurance and success are all part of the remarkable journey at Bleasdale Vineyards. It has been an amazing experience to have had the opportunity to be involved.

Certainly it is the winery and the people here that make this such a special place, and of course our loyal customers and Bleasdale ambassadors, like yourself, who have made such a great contribution.

So, as I ‘sign off’ from my role as General Manager, I do so knowing the team will continue the legacy of Frank Potts for many years to come and my sincere thanks to you for your support and loyalty to our winery.

Here’s to you, Mr Potts!

Regards and thanks again,

Martin Strachan”
