August Awards Update

August was a busy month here at Bleasdale, with a number of awards and reviews announced. Over the course of August we were awarded five trophies, eight gold medals, and seven silver medals!

2018 Sydney Royal Wine Show

At the beginning of the month Paul (Bleasdale Senior Winemaker) and Leigh (Bleasdale National Sales Manager) were in attendance to receive not one, not two, but three trophies at the 2018 Sydney Royal Wine Show!

Our soon-to-be-released 2016 Wellington Road Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the Jones, Steains and Waller Perpetual Trophy for Best Cabernet Dominant Blend or Shiraz Dominant Blend as well as the Dr Gilbert Phillips Memorial Perpetual Trophy for Best Red Wine of Show. The current release 2015 Generations Shiraz was also awarded the International Judge’s Annual Trophy.

2019 Halliday Wine Companion

Released at the same time was the 2019 edition of the James Halliday Wine Companion. With seven wines scoring over 95 points and 16 rating over 90 points; this was a very solid way to back up last year’s outstanding results.

The standout reviews of current vintage wines were for the 2016 Wellington Road G.S.M. (rated 96 points), and the 3 single vineyard Malbecs – 2016 Riparian Vineyard Malbec (95 points), 2016 The Islander Estate Vineyard Malbec (94 points) and 2016 Mullianna Malbec (93 points).

Future vintages that received exceptional scores and reviews were the 2016 Generations Malbec (96 points), 2016 Frank Potts (96 points), 2016 The Iron Duke Cabernet Sauvignon (96 points), 2016 Generations Shiraz (95 points) and 2016 Wellington Road Shiraz Cabernet (95 points).

2018 Royal Hobart Wine Show

Bleasdale Shiraz was a hit at the 2018 Royal Hobart Wine Show, with 4 gold medals being awarded to our shiraz wines.

The current 2016 vintage of Bremerview Shiraz picked up a gold medal, while 3 future vintages of our Generations and Powder Monkey Shiraz wines also took home gold. The future is bright for Bleasdale Shiraz!

The newly released 2018 Adelaide Hills Pinot Gris also picked up a silver medal, as did the 2017 Second Innings Malbec.

2018 Royal Perth Wine Show

Just scraping in at the end of August is the annual Perth Wine Show, where we were lucky enough to take home two more trophies!

The 2017 Frank Potts (which won’t be released for a few years) was awarded the trophy for Best Red Table Wine of Show as well as the trophy for Best Dry Red Blend of Show.

Not a bad start to its life on the wine show circuit!
